We are pleased to welcome Mr. Daniel VanderVelden as the new Principal of the Hayward High School. Mr. VanderVelden previously served as the Junior High/Senior High Principal at Bessemer, Michigan. Mr. VanderVelden stated; “I am very excited and honored to be selected as the new Principal of Hayward High School. I wish to express my gratitude to the Hayward school board members and Superintendent, Mr. Olson for providing me the opportunity to provide great educational opportunities to the students and community members of Hayward."

Mr. VanderVelden’s professional experience includes Headmaster/teacher of boarding school, middle and high school teacher, Dean of Students, Principal and coaching. The majority of his professional career has been in the Oshkosh Area School District. Mr. VanderVelden has a BS Secondary Education from U.W. Oshkosh, with a double major in Social Studies & Geography and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Marian University. His wife Patty, hails from Ironwood, Michigan and he’s originally from Kimberly, Wisconsin. The VanderVeldens have two children, Danielle (daughter) and Brecken (son). They love spending time at their cottage, downhill skiing, snowshoeing, or fishing. Mr. VanderVelden is an avid fan of the Badgers and Packers, and very proud to say a new Hurricane fan!
